Leicester plot January swoop for PSG outcast Hatem Ben Arfa

The newly-appointed manager was in charge of the French winger for a season during his time at Nice, in which he scored 18 goals, a career best.

And according to the Daily Mail, the pair could be set for a reunion as Puel seeks reinforcements to avoid slipping into a relegation fight.

Ben Arfa played 33 times for the Ligue 1 giants last season but isn’t getting a look in this term and a loan move could be a possibility.

The former Newcastle and Hull man is yet to feature this campaign, having fallen way down the pecking order behind Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria.

The 30-year-old refused to leave the club during the summer, vowing to stay and fight for his place, but he could now seek a move to guarantee regular playing time.

Ben Arfa earns £100,000-a-week but will be a free agent in June, so could use any loan move as an audition to secure a permanent deal.

Puel may look to clear out his overflowing squad in order to fund his January spending spree, with Islam Slimani, Leonardo Ulloa, Ahmed Musa and Yohan Benalouane likely to make way.
