PHILIPPE COUTINHO and Roberto Firmino are shock absentees from Liverpool’s starting line-up against Everton, according to former Red David Thompson.
Thompson broke the news on Twitter.
He wrote: “No Coutinho or firminho in the starting line up Robertson and solanke start!!”
Thompson’s claim has been supported by Jamie Carragher.
He posted on the social media site: “Liverpool teams a big surprise!!!!!!!”
Brazilian pair Coutinho and Firmino have been in blistering form of late.
They ripped Brighton apart last weekend and did the same to Spartak Moscow in midweek.
But is appears they won’t be taking Everton to task at Anfield this afternoon.
Andrew Robertson is said to be a starter.
He’ll replace the injured Alberto Moreno at left-back.
And youngster Dominic Solanke would appear to be in the team for Firmino up front.
Jurgen Klopp may have an eye on Wednesday’s Premier League clash with West Brom.
The Reds have a hectic December and his decision to leave out Firmino and Coutinho could just be to ensure they are rested for the midweek game.
UPDATE: David Thompson was proved right, with Firmino and Coutinho both named on the bench.
Liverpool team: Mignolet, Gomez, Klavan, Lovren, Robertson, Milner, Henderson, Mane, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Salah, Solanke.
Subs: Karius, Wijnaldum, Firmino, Coutinho, Can, Ings, Alexander-Arnold.
