As the former Arsenal winger Robert Pires has predicted, Manchester United will sign AS Monaco versatile midfielder Fabinho in the January transfer window.
The Brazilian star has played a pivotal part in Monaco’s title run last campaign and has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Robert Pires believes that even if Fabinho doesn’t move in January he will still end up at Old Trafford before the start of next season.
The legendary Frenchman told Bwin (via Metro): “I think this could happen in January, or next summer. Manchester City could also be interested but they’ve got Fernandinho at the moment, who is playing very well.”
Effective at breaking up play, the 24-year-old South American has averaged three defensive actions per game in Ligue 1 this term, while he has retained possession effectively, completing 87 percent of his attempted passes.
Although the Red Devils can already call upon a top-class holding midfielder in Nemanja Matic, the acquisition of Fabinho would provide Jose Mourinho’s side with extra solidity, with Ander Herrera, for instance, not being the strongest player defensively.
