MANCHESTER UNITED chief Jose Mourinho will block any attempt by Rangers to snap up Scott McTominay on loan.
That’s according to The Mirror who say the Scottish heavyweights – along with a host of Championship clubs – have been sniffing around.
McTominay played against Benfica in the Champions League in October.
The midfielder impressed and Jose Mourinho was quick to praise his young star.
The Portuguese also took a dig at critics who claim he doesn’t give youth a chance.
“Scott? Even more fantastic with a manager who never gives a chance to a young guy!” he said.
“In Chelsea, [I selected] the youngest player ever to play in the Champions League, I think, in Dominic Solanke.
“Again, with a manager who never gives a chance to young guys.
“I’m very happy for Scott, [he has] great stability and great personality.”
United are well stocked in midfield, but Mourinho is reluctant to weaken his squad as fixtures come thick and fast.
The Red Devils defeated Arsenal a thrilling 3-1 victory at the Emirates yesterday.
The result leaves them five points off Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola’s men play lowly West Ham this afternoon.
