Nigeria international Victor Osimhen could find himself further down the pecking order of strikers at Wolfsburg ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
Wolfsburg have announced that prolific Croatian U21 international Josip Brekalo will rejoin the club immediately the winter transfer window opens for business next week.
The 19-year-old was initially on loan at VfB Stuttgart until the summer of 2018, but has been recalled early and will begin preparations with Wolfsburg for the second half of the season on January 2nd, 2018.
A product of Dinamo Zagreb, Brekalo has drawn comparisons with Netherlands hero Arjen Robben due to his pace.
Osimhen has been trying to break into Wolfsburg’s first team picture without success since his arrival at the club in 2017, he has played only 8 games and logged a paltry 67 minutes.
If these statistics do not improve in the second half of the 2017-2018 season, then, the former Golden Eaglets star can forget about being Nigeria’s youngest player at the 2018 World Cup, an honour that should go to Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.
