Gary Lineker reacts to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s display in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win over FC Barcelona

Gary Lineker heaped praise on Trent Alexander-Arnold for his “incredible” assist for Divock Origi’s winner in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Liverpool FC suffered a chastening 3-0 loss to FC Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final following goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The Reds started Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri for the second leg in the absence of injured Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Origi broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when the Belgian striker finished from close range after good work from Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane.

Klopp turned to Georginio Wijnaldum at half-time after Andy Robertson suffered a foot injury.

And the Netherlands international scored Liverpool FC’s second with a precise finish before Wijnaldum guided a header into the corner to level the tie on aggregate.

Alexander-Arnold was alert enough to take a quick corner which found Origi unmarked – and the Belgian striker netted his second of the night to put Liverpool FC ahead for the first time in the tie.

Former Spurs striker Lineker gave his verdict on Alexander-Arnold’s assist for Origi’s goal in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 victory over FC Barcelona on Tuesday night.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “That is unbelievable from @trentaa98. Incredible.”

Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev last term.

The Reds are in second place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of Manchester City in the title race.
