He played a prominent role for Saint Etienne who finished the just concluded French Ligue 1 season in fourth spot and will campaign in the Europa League next season after his club missed out narrowly to Lyon during the fight for the third and final Champions League spot for next season alongside champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Lille.
William Saliba is rated at £26m by Saint Etienne and the Gunners will have to contend with Premier League rivals Manchester United for his signature.
Saint Etienne want to sell the young defender and loan him back for the new season but Manchester United are not willing to sanction a loan deal after purchase.
On the other hand, Arsenal is fine with the loan condition from Saint Etienne.
