Steven Gerrard was all smiles as he watched Liverpool FC beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to win the Champions League on Saturday night.
The Reds were 1-0 up inside two minutes in Madrid when Mohamed Salah netted his penalty after Mohamed Sissoko was penalised for a handball in the box.
Neither side were able to get much of a grip on the game in both halves, but Spurs produced a number of chances later in the second half.
However, it was Liverpool FC who had the final say, as Divock Origi slid home a cool and precise finish in the 87th minute to wrap up victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Gerrard famously tasted Champions League glory with Liverpool FC back in 2005 in Istanbul and the former Reds captain looked to be in high spirits as he soaked in the result after the final whistle.
The win marks Liverpool FC’s first trophy under Klopp since his appointment as Liverpool FC boss back in 2015.
It also allowed Liverpool FC to banish the demons of last season, when the Reds ended up losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
The result left Tottenham Hotspur still searching for their trophy under Mauricio Pochettino.
