Arsenal players suspect that manager Unai Emery might have rigged the club captaincy votes according to the publication from the stables of UK Sun.
The suspicion arose after out-of-favour midfielder Mesut Ozil was included as one of the five Arsenal captains.
Unai Emery confirmed Granit Xhaka as the club’s captain at the end of last month on the back of the captaincy votes from the Arsenal players.
The Spanish tactician also named four assistant captains namely Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Hector Bellerin and Mesut Ozil.
The inclusion of Ozil has raised eyebrows amongst the Arsenal squad members with many thinking that the German might have had the highest votes.
Mesut Ozil has not had the best of times under Unai Emery since he became the Gunners boss last summer.
The German international was conspicuously missing from the Arsenal squad for the game at Manchester United in the Premier League.
He was left out of the Arsenal team that played out a 1-1 draw at the home of Manchester United.
Mesut Ozil has less than two years left on his current deal at Arsenal whom he joined from Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid in a then club-record deal in the summer of 2013.
