Cesar Azpilicueta has admitted that he has been delighted by Tammy Abraham’s fine form for Chelsea FC so far this season.

The striker continued his strong start to the new campaign under Frank Lampard on Sunday as he scored the opening goal in the Blues’ 4-1 win at Southampton.

Abraham has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC first team this season and he has scored an impressive eight goals in eight Premier League appearances so far this term.

The 22-year-old has also netted once in two Champions League games this season to take his total tally for the campaign to nine.

Azpilicueta has been highly impressed by what he has seen from Abraham in a Chelsea FC shirt this season but he admits that he always knew he was ready to shine for the Blues.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Chelsea FC’s website, Azpilicueta said of Abraham: “I had confidence in him because I have known him since he was quite young.

“Every time I saw him his work ethic was very good. Last season he had an amazing spell at Aston Villa, he was a key player for them, he scored a lot of goals.

“I knew he was ready for us, and for the Premier League. As soon as he arrived he worked hard and wanted to help the team.

“Strikers live for goals so it’s great for him. He’s doing incredibly well and he scored an amazing goal.

“I’m very happy for him and I’m sure he can give us a lot more happiness in the future.”

Abraham will be expecting to start for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Newcastle United.

The west London side are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table as they aim to try and maintain their spot in the top four from last season.
