Former Manchester United player Andrei Kanchelskis believes that forward Alexis Sanchez could end up at Spanish La Liga club Atletico Madrid if he does not resurrect his ailing career at Old Trafford.
The ex-Man Utd winger told Bwin that Alexis Sanchez has to improve his form to prolong his career at the club as he likened him to ex-Chelsea striker Fernando Torres who had a torrid time at Chelsea before returning to Atletico Madrid.
Fernando Torres came through the Atletico Madrid Academy before making his debut.
He was the club’s captain at a young age before leaving for Liverpool where he became a worldwide name.
A £50m transfer to Chelsea from Liverpool turned out to be his biggest career mistake as he flopped badly at Stamford Bridge despite the fact that the Spaniard was part of the Blues team that won the 2011/12 Champions League title.
Andrei Kalchenskis warned Alexis Sanchez about his poor Manchester United form adding that the Chilean could end up at Atletico Madrid and that he will also have to take a pay cut.
According to him, bigger Spanish sides like Barcelona and Real Madrid are presently out of reach for him.
Alexis Sanchez has scored just five goals in 41 appearances for Manchester United since joining them from Arsenal in January 2018.
