Manchester United will hold off signing a new defender this summer and instead focus on landing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is waiting to give his defenders a chance to prove themselves instead of splashing the cash on a new centre-half this summer.
And that means that the Red Devils can focus their funds and efforts on trying to sign 18-year-old winger Sancho from Dortmund, according to the same story.
The same article says that Manchester United’s priority this summer is signing a new right winger, and Sancho seems to fit the bill.
However, it is also claimed in the same story that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Juventus’ Douglas Costa and Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic ahead of the summer transfer window.
Sancho has been in good form for Dortmund so far this season and has scored eight goals and made 10 assists in 25 Bundesliga games this term.
Manchester United are looking to break back into the top four before the season is out after their loss to Arsenal left them fifth in the table.
The Red Devils have not yet officially confirmed that Solskjaer will become their permanent manager, with the Norwegian having taken over from Jose Mourinho on an interim basis in December.
