Manchester United head-coach Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to watch Saul Niguez and Radja Nainggolan in action in Champions League game as Portuguese manager is seeking a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick, according to reports.
Mourinho had his scouts monitor Atletico’s goalless draw with AS Roma in the Champions League game earlier this week. Saul and Nainngollan are both world-class midfielder and could perfectly fit in Jose Mourinho’s system.
So far this term, 36-year-old midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the Red Devils, but Mourinho said this week that Carrick is an option to replace Paul Pogba who is suffering from a hamstring injury. Nainggolan, meanwhile, was heavily linked with Old Trafford move earlier this summer.
The Belgium international is also on Chelsea manager Antonio Conte’s radar, and the Italian even made a personal phone call to convince Nainggolan to make a switch to Premier League.
Niguez will be even harder to convince to make Old Trafford move after he signed a nine-year contract with the Spanish giants back in July.
