Maurizio Sarri has insisted that he is confident that Gonzalo Higuain will be a key player for Chelsea FC this season.
The Argentina international has been settling into life at Stamford Bridge after having joined the Blues on loan from Juventus until the end of the season.
The 31-year-old has scored two goals in four Premier League games so far this season and he will be hoping to help fire the Blues to a win at Fulham in their top-flight clash at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
Higuain has drawn blanks in recent outings against Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City.
However, Sarri seems to be confident that Higuain will soon find his top form and he was pleased with his input in Chelsea FC’s 2-0 win over Tottenham in midweek.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday before the trip to Chelsea FC, Sarri said: “I think that the contribution was really very good in the last match [against Spurs].
“He played with his team-mates well, I think that he needs more acceleration because now he is a little more resistant but without the acceleration he had in Naples for example.
“I think he needs to improve his physical condition especially for acceleration and then he will score, of course.”
Chelsea FC are looking to work their way up the Premier League table as they bid to finish in the top four this term.
The Blues currently find themselves outside of the Champions League qualification spots as they look to try and improve on their fifth-placed finish from last season.
