Lowly Strasbourg face a daunting task when they welcome champions elect PSG in Ligue 1 this weekend. The hosts have the joint second worst defence in the division after 15 games after they conceded 26 times, and they will do well to restrict their visitors to just a couple of goals.
Despite an encouraging start to the season Strasbourg are now out of the bottom three on goal difference only, after winning just one of their last five matches. One positive is that the team does seem to know where the goal is having notched 17 times, with forward Nuno Da Costa bagging three of those. But unless they can start to become more secure at the back, then they will remain in the lower reaches of the division. Following this week’s difficult encounter they then face another tough task when they travel to Bordeaux before a crunch clash with fellow strugglers Toulouse ahead of the winter break.
PSG meanwhile continue to swat aside all challengers and on Wednesday night they overcame Troyes 2-0 at Parc des Princes. It was not all straightforward for the hosts after top scorer Edinson Cavani missed a penalty, but Cavani made amends with an injury time goal after Neymar had broken the deadlock. PSG remarkably have now dropped just four points this season, with it looking more and more likely that they will go the whole campaign unbeaten.
They are almost certain to reclaim the Ligue 1 title after losing out to Monaco in 2016/17, with the only likely concern over how many points clear they will be of second place come May.
We see the away side winning this one and our advice is to back a PSG win and Both Teams To Score.
For our correct score prediction, we think it will finish 3-1 to the visitors.
