Watford vs Tottenham Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Watford’s troubles at Vicarage Road continued in midweek as they went 3-0 down in the first half against Manchester United. To be fair to them, they kept on going forward and almost got back into the game with six minutes remaining, but an 86th minute Jesse Lingard goal saw the game end 4-2 and resign The Hornets to defeat.

Despite this loss they remain in a very promising position in the Premier League, and there’s no doubt that their fans are getting their money’s worth this season. The hosts sit 8th in the Premier League, and in their 14 matches so far a huge 49 goals have been scored.

This is almost evenly split between goals scored and goals conceded, giving them the 4th best attacking record in the league but the 4th worst defence as well. Their 4-2 loss against Manchester United perfectly illustrated their performances this season.

Most of Watford’s better performances have come away from home this season though, so hosting a Tottenham side who do better away from home isn’t the ideal situation this weekend. They have won two, drawn two, and lost three of their seven home matches, scoring nine goals but conceding 15 at the other end.

Tottenham also suffered disappointment in midweek when they faltered to a 2-1 loss at Leicester, following on from their even more disappointing draw at home to West Brom last weekend. They have slipped off the pace in the Premier League, and now find themselves eight points adrift of 2nd placed Manchester United.

They will feel confident about giving Watford some trouble here though. They have only failed to score against Arsenal and Manchester United away from home this season and have netted 13 goals in their five trips to so-called lesser opponents. They have only managed one clean sheet in their last five away games though, so considering Watford’s attacking record, backing Both Teams to Score could be a great move.

Watford don’t tend to score a single goal either. In fact, The Hornets have scored at least two goals in 11 of their 14 Premier League games, so backing Watford Over 1.5 Team Goals again here looks fantastic value for money. We’re opting for a high scoring 3-2 win for the visitors as well.

Harry Kane, as usual, is the main threat for the visitors. He scored again in midweek to take his tally to double figures in the Premier League this season, and considering seven of these have come in his six away appearances, backing him to find the net again looks the perfect choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
